Lawn Bowls is both an individual and team sport.
Coorparoo Bowls Club has an existing broad base of active members participating in weekly social bowls and in competition bowls throughout the year.
Playing bowls at Coorparoo Bowls Club is a great opportunity to mix with like-minded ladies and men of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy outdoor activities and social engagement, in a friendly competitive environment.
Coorparoo Bowls Club regularly welcomes new members and bowling members from other clubs. Our reputation is one of the friendliest bowls clubs in Brisbane. For new members, we have accredited coaches who can soon turn a novice into someone who enjoys bowling within no time at all. Coorparoo Bowls Club is an amalgamated ladies and men’s bowls club operating as one club.
Weekly Social Bowls
Weekly social bowls for bowling members and guests is held every Wednesday starting at 1.00pm in winter and 2.00pm in summer, playing through to about 4.00pm. Bowlers play in teams of pairs, triples, or fours depending on the numbers registered to play on each day. Teams are formed each week with a random draw so bowlers could be playing with different people each game.
Green fees for social bowls are currently $10 on each day played. After the games, bowlers traditionally retire to the club house or beer garden for a post-game catch up and a cool drink from our well stocked bar.
To register for Social Bowls, you will need to call or text the Games Director, Dennis Beitz on 0417 641 743 before 12 noon in winter or 1.00pm in summer.

Monthly 3 Bowls Pairs
Coorparoo Bowls Club holds monthly 3 Bowl Pairs events on the third Friday of the month, from 9.00am to lunch and presentations at 1.00pm. These days are popular with club bowling members and bowling members visiting from a range of clubs in south-east Queensland. Coorparoo’s 3 Bowl Pairs events are promoted by Bowls Queensland.
The monthly 3 bowl pairs day commences with a ‘spider’ competition where all participants line up with 1 bowl to land on a ‘spider’ to win a bottle of wine. Other prizes are awarded throughout the morning, with bowling prizes based on wins and margins. The day is sponsored by local businesses and politicians. Special events such as the Brisbane EKKA Day are celebrated on these days. A poster for the 2025 August 3 Bowl Pairs day is below.
Competition Bowls
Coorparoo Bowls Club members also participate in inter-club Pennants and championship bowls tournaments around South-east Queensland. We are members of Gateway District Bowls Association. This affords our regular competent bowlers and those members who aspire for a more competitive environment the opportunity to develop their skills in the wider lawn bowls community.
Coorparoo Bowls Club is a small club, but we are regularly ‘punching above our weight’ in these inter-club tournaments.
Gateway District Bowls Championships
Coorparoo Bowls Club’s logo features the local Dove, and the suburb name originates from the sound of the Dove: coor-par-roo. Our championship bowlers are referred to as the Mighty Doves or Lady Doves.
This year the Lady Doves competed in the Gateway District Champion of Champions Lady Fours. We played against Macleay Island Bowls Club at Victoria Point for second place in the Grand Final. Congratulations are due to the Lady Doves for an amazing effort against an extremely experienced side.
The Mighty Doves competed in the Gateway District Champion of Champions Men’s Pairs. Congratulations to the Mighty Doves who made it to the Grand Final, becoming runners up against a strong Capalaba team.
Gateway District Bowls Open Pennants 2025
Gateway Open Pennants season in 2025 was conducted in a new format. Coorparoo Bowls Club seized the opportunity to make history with two Pennants Divisions bringing home the Pennants plaques.
In the Mid-week Division 5 Pennants we defeated Mt Gravatt Bowls Club 44-33, played at Victoria Point Bowls Club. Congratulations to our two teams who played so incredibly well throughout the whole season.
Coorparoo Bowls Club fielded 3 Divisions in Open Saturday Pennants.
In Division 4 Pennants we took home the winners Plaques in a hotly contested division. We defeated Cleveland Bowls Club 77-49 at home with all 3 teams playing at their best all season.
Congratulations are also due to our Division 8 teams who made it to the Semi-finals but narrowly missed the win at Mt Gravatt Bowls Club. Division 10 teams just fell short of making it to the Finals but every player qualified as Mighty Doves in each game played.
Club Competitions
All bowling members are encouraged to participate in Club Championship games. On an annual basis, Club Championship games are held for ladies and mens singles, ladies and mens pairs, and mixed championship games. Trophies are awarded to all winners of these games, and badges are presented to winners at the annual Christmas party.
Club Mixed Pairs 2025
On Saturday the club championship mixed pairs was played with Damon and Christine (19) victorious over Gordo and Val (17) in the Final.
Earlier in the day in the Semi-finals, Gordo and Val prevailed over Marto and Diane (19 – 11), and Damon and Christine defeated Melsy and Felsy (22 – 12).
Congratulations are due to all 4 players for some great bowls and a very entertaining game to watch.

Club Ladies and Mens Singles Champions 2025
On Saturday we enjoyed some quality bowls from the four ladies and mens singles finalists.
Val Daley defeated Erica Frost 25 – 11 to win the Ladies Singles Championship for 2025.
Damon Lewis played Ben Wasley in a very close game to win the 2025 Men’s Singles Championship 25 – 18.
Bowls Committee President Helen Leben presented trophies to the winners.
Club Championship Mens Pairs 2025
Congratulations to Mark McDonald (Macca) and John Perrier (JP) who defeated Gordon Reynolds (Gordo) and Michael Martin (Marto) 19 to 12 to win the 2025 Club Championship Mens Pairs trophies.
The Sunday storm interrupted play with 5 ends to go, so the game was completed yesterday afternoon.
The trophies were presented by Bowls Committee President Helen.
Club Championship Ladies Pairs 2025
Congratulations to Christine and Erica who defeated Jane and Diane yesterday 25 to 18, to win the 2025 Club Ladies Pairs Champions trophies.
Jane and Diane were last year’s Ladies Pairs Champions.
Bowler Membership of Coorparoo Bowls Club
Coorparoo Bowls Club is a community club as well as a Bowls Club, so our bowler membership fees have been kept at affordable levels to enable bowlers from all walks of life to participate and realise good value for money.
The club’s financial year is January to December with membership fees due for payment by the end of December. Members joining throughout the year will have their fees reduced pro-rata at the date of joining. Full Bowler Membership fees are currently $100 per annum.
The benefits of becoming a full bowling member include:
- Use of the greens whenever the club is open.
- Use of club bowls and equipment for practice.
- Participation in social bowls and special events.
- Participation in Club Championship events.
- Participation in inter-club and pennants games.
- Participation in free coaching clinics.
- Member discounts at the bar and 10% discount on kitchen purchases.
- Voting rights at the AGM and eligibility to join club committees.
Social Membership of Coorparoo Bowls Club
As a community club, social membership is available to non-bowlers and visitors at an annual fee of $10. Social members also enjoy a discount on kitchen purchases.
